All dressed up & nowhere to go

Outfit Details:
Jeans, shoes, necklaces - Ann Taylor
Striped tee, red ring - Target
Locket ring - Macy's
Stackable rings - Avon
Jacket - Thrifted

I decided to spend my day off yesterday experimenting with the tripod I got for Christmas. I dragged myself out of my sweatpants and out the door, looking forward to a kick-ass photoshoot around my apartment complex.

Um, it ended up being one of the most embarrassing half-hour periods of my life. More than ten people passed as I was attempting to take photos of myself. I kept moving, they kept showing up! I couldn't find a place where I could pose without anyone around. I don't know how other bloggers do it so confidently!

Needless to say, I didn't get one decent shot while outside. I couldn't take all of the eyes watching me, probably thinking I looked like a conceited wannabe model -- it was just too awkward! I settled on these goofy indoor photos instead. Sigh...

PS: I'm hosting a blog event! Who's your valentine?

  1. I am so terrified of being spotted shooting photos of myself outside. I won't even let Hubby watch me! I feel your pain. But I love this ensemble with the red accents and the shots. Score!

  2. I hear ya! I've finally just gotten OK with my boyfriend taking my pictures. And even though he's the only one around while we do it, I'm still totally awkward ha! I live in such a small city that everyone literally knows everyone so if anyone saw me they would stop and be like, "Brooke what the hell are you doing?!" Yes, I've gone through the entire scenario a few times in my head and that is always the outcome!

You look gorgeous though. Keep trying. I think it's one of those things that you get more and more confident with over time. Or try finding a quiet corner of parks or beaches. That was my go to ha! Love the stripes and the hints of red. xx

  3. aww these are sooo cute <3

I was wondering if you could help me. How do I link my blogspot posts to my facebook.

It's linked to my personal facebook, but I want to link it to my facebook that promotes my blogspot.

Would I have to make a completely new blogspot to do this??

    love love love your blog.

  4. Aw, thanks Brooke & V! It's good to know I'm not alone. :)

Steph, I actually don't think there's a way to automatically link your Facebook page to your blog. I just update my status every time I have a new entry, and hope for the best!

  5. Yay for tripods for Christmas! I got one too, and I've been tripod happy lately. I take my pictures in my back yard, I have yet to venture out into the public to do a photo shoot, but the feeling of shyness is creeping up, so we'll see. I really like this outfit. I love the red. It looks awesome!! Thanks so much, again, for your suggestion!! I actually did take some close ups, but my camera hated me, and they came out horrible (I couldn't in my right mind post them...and this was after an hour of trying to edit them to make them O.K.)

  7. I totally know how you feel. Whenever I take photos outside I pose for a bit, then quickly pretend like I'm not doing anything when someone walks by. It's a little embarrassing, but so worth it when you get a shot you like.

Your photos came out great and I love the outfit :)

  8. It's a totally awkward endeavor, for sure. I always go somewhere that's not populated. The people I do run across often say something, & I just reply that I'm taking self-portraits. That's a pretty reasonable thing to do, I think. After all, I am sort of a student of photography. (I'm teaching myself, but that's ok!). I say go for it. Who cares if a few people see you? It will give them a cool story to tell their friends. :)
