Loves :: Weekend Update
Last weekend was just what I needed. Friday was my six-month anniversary with Brandon, and it was quite the adventure. He lives in Sylmar, about 18 miles northwest of my neighborhood. There aren't many dinner options there, and even at 9pm on a Friday, the only place open was a Mexican mariachi bar. Neither of us were in the mood for that, so we headed over to Northridge, which is always a party thanks to the nearby college. We randomly passed rows of food trucks, and of course I couldn't find anything Whole30-friendly there, but we still stopped the car and walked around for a bit. Then we went back on our healthy food hunt and stumbled upon a sushi joint. I ended up ordering hand rolls sans rice. It was still yummy, and I thanked the chefs profusely for catering to my needs. My sweet man and I had a wonderful time.
On Saturday, Nikki and I met up with Morgan, Sonny, Angela and Jacquelyn at Cabo Cantina in Venice. I didn't drink obvi, but the salad I ordered was delish. It was so much fun catching up over cocktails outside, enjoying the setting sun and each other's company. As the sky grew darker, Ang + Jax + Nikki + I walked along the beach, taking in the sights and sounds of the city. The shops and bars surrounding us stayed busy as the night went on. The ocean's breeze and the laughter of my girlfriends encouraged me to appreciate the here and now that I have. Los Angeles, with all of its flaws and foes, has become home to me. If it weren't for my being here, I would have missed out on so many opportunities. I am very blessed to have this life; I only wish I had realized it sooner. Better late than never, I suppose.
