1. China and Precious Dinnerware
Do you have expensive China dinnerware? If you have a number of plates and glasses that are very special, then you need to pack boxes a special way. You can first wrap each plate with bubble wrap or newspaper, then place inside of a box, making sure to push bubble wrap or newspaper wrapping into any crevices. You may think that’s the best way to transport precious porcelain, but we want you to go a step further and place this box inside of another sturdy box, just to ensure that it has an added layer of protection.
2. Glass Antiques
Do you have extremely fragile antiques? These need to be wrapped with bubble wrap and then taped. When you place inside of the box, make sure that you don’t have other heavy items inside
You may have things that you don’t want to lose in a move. These can be the most stressful to pack. It’s important to label boxes and even add descriptions of what’s inside to ensure that you keep an eye on your keepsakes.
4. Records & Record Players
When packing records and record players, you need to take some precautions. For one, you want to make sure that all of your vinyls are packed vertically. You don’t want to cram a bunch of records into a box either, which will make them more difficult to pull out later. In addition, don’t keep them inside of the box forever. You should unpack your record and store them carefully.
5. Cash and Jewelry
Are you taking a safe deposit box with you? Do you have cash and jewelry that you don’t want to lose? These items should go into a specialty box that you keep with you so you know where it is all times. We know how important these valuables can be, and we don’t want anything to get misplaced in the move.
6. Paintings, Mirrors and Framed Prints
You should use large, heavy-duty picture boxes to move art and framed prints. You can wrap your art in Glassine, which is smooth paper that is resistant to any type of water, air, and grease stains. After you secure Glassine with tape, you can then wrap the art in bubble wrap and place in a large box. Make sure to completely cover the artwork, including the corners.
